|First Appearance||The Fault in Our Stars|
Patrick is a background character in The Fault in Our Stars, who isn't spoken about very often. He is the head of the Support Group and a prostate cancer survivor. Every time he speaks at Support Group, he tells everyone about the fact that he lost his testicles. He can seem funny sometimes without actually trying to be, for instance when he refers the meeting place for the Support Group as the Literal Heart of Jesus, which Hazel and Augustus makes fun of. He is divorced, mostly friendless and working on his Master's Degree and lives in his parent's house.
The only information the book gives us about him is that he had lost his testicles to prostate cancer.
Hazel Grace LancasterEdit
Patrick doesn't seem to have any direct relationship with Hazel, or favoritism over her, but when he asks what Augustus Waters what he means by saying his fear is oblivion, Patrick is very pleased to see Hazel Grace raise her hand and participate voluntarily in the group. After she returns from the ICU, he exclaims, "Hazel! I'm so glad to see you!" This being from the book.
Nothing much is said about the relation between Patrick and Isaac other than the fact that Isaac is a regular at the Support Group which Patrick conducts.
- It is shown that he made the rug that had a picture of Jesus on it that was on the Support Group floor.
- The "Literal Heart of Jesus" is the church basement.
