Frannie Lancaster is a background character in The Fault in Our Stars. She is Hazel's mother and wife to Mr. Lancaster. Seeing as she is a minor character, her appearance and personal information is unknown.
Mrs. Lancaster is shown as a very caring mother who constantly worries about Hazel and her life. Near the beginning, she is shown worried about Hazel's presumed depression. For this reason she enrolls Hazel in a Support Group. She also chaperones the trip to Amsterdam.
Near the end of the book it's revealed that she had been taking classes to become a 'Patrick', or, to be more specific, become a social worker who specializes in counseling parents of children suffering from cancer.
Relationships
Hazel Grace Lancaster
Mrs. Lancaster is shown as a very caring mother who constantly worries about Hazel and her life. Near the beginning, she is shown to be worried about Hazel's presumed depression. For this reason she enrolls Hazel in a Support Group. She also chaperones Hazel's later-on trip to Amsterdam. Despite her near-constant hovering over Hazel, she tries to make her feel like a normal teenager, so she hides when Hazel and her friend shop together.
Mr.Lancaster
Mrs.Lancaster's supportive husband. They are always together.
Augustus Waters
Mrs.Lancaster likes Augustus because he took Hazel out of her depression. She is happy she finally has a friend. Later in the book she becomes upset due to Hazel's frequent disappearances made in order to provide company to Augustus. She also is the one who tends to point out, throughout the trip to Amsterdam, that she is the one who points out that she "raised Hazel". This might be due to the fact Hazel hangs out more with Augustus, and it may be possible Mrs. Lancaster is a bit jealous.
