Esther Grace Earl (August 3rd 1994-August 25th 2010) was a good friend ofJohn Green. She was diagnosed with cancer at the age of twelve in 2006 and fought for four years, dying at the age of sixteen in 2010. She and John Green met at a Harry Potter convention in 2009. She was a full-time Youtube video maker (Cookie4Monster4 as her Youtube account name) and Nerdfighter. She did a lot in sixteen years.

Shortly before her death, John Green uploaded I Love Hank: Esther Day 2010. It was a celebration of Esther Day, a day that was supposed to be about family and love, stated by Esther. It is celebrated on August 3rd, her birthday.

This Star Won't Go Out[edit | edit source]

Esther wanted to be an author, so her parents got some of her diary entries, quotes, and other things and put them together into a book.
